Book a consultation with an immigration lawyer today
If you are not sure you meet all the requirements for an entry visa, or you don’t know how to prepare your documents for a safe visa application, one of our immigration lawyers will help you find the best way forward.
Entry visa application
If you come from a non-EU country, you will probably need an entry visa for Italy to visit family or friends, or to travel as a tourist.
The entry visa application must be submitted to the nearest Italian Consulate and requires great care: if you do not meet the requirements or fail to provide the right documents, your entry visa may be refused.
Visa for family members of Italian citizens
Family members of Italian citizens (by birth or naturalisation) can apply for an entry visa and join their Italian relatives without first obtaining a nulla osta (clearance) from the Prefettura (local government office).
If you are a non-EU citizen and want to obtain a visa for your family members, we recommend our dedicated family reunification service.
Appointment at the Italian Embassy
Once your documents are ready, you need to book an appointment at the Italian Embassy in your country to apply for the entry visa.
Some Embassies use the official booking system Prenot@ami, which often does not work properly and only offers appointments for document legalisation and declarations of value.
Others rely on external companies that make it nearly impossible to book an Embassy appointment and, at best, you may get one more than 8 months later.
Get your Italian Consulate appointment quickly
Don’t waste any more time and energy: get help securing your Italian Consulate appointment for your visa application from one of our specialised immigration lawyers.
Problems with your entry visa application?
Notice of intent to refuse an entry visa
If your application was not submitted correctly and you received a notice of intent to refuse (Article 10-bis) for your entry visa, you must reply as soon as possible, attaching documents and valid reasons to show the Italian Consulate that you are entitled to the visa.
You have 10 days to reply, so don't lose any more time and turn to an immigration lawyer specialised in entry visa applications for Italy.
Entry visa refusal
If you do not reply correctly to the notice of intent to refuse, you will receive an official document refusing your entry visa.
It is a difficult moment, because it means you either have to start over from scratch or file an appeal against the visa refusal with the TAR Lazio (Regional Administrative Court of Lazio).
An appeal takes time but, if you truly believe you are entitled to the entry visa, make sure you rely on our agency, whose team includes qualified immigration lawyers, to give your appeal the best possible chance.
Visa refusal for family members of EU citizens
A refused entry visa for a family member of an EU citizen is one of those cases where an appeal to the TAR is really worth it.
Italian Consulates often refuse entry visas to family members of EU citizens and, just as with any refusal, the only option left is to appeal against the decision.
If you believe you are entitled to an entry visa, don't waste more time and money: rely on an experienced lawyer for your entry visa application and take the right steps towards a visa for your family and friends.
Appeal against an entry visa refusal
An appeal against an entry visa refusal is the only option left if you have already received a refusal.
The appeal must be filed, through a lawyer, directly with the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) of Lazio.
The process takes a long time, so we invite you to consult one of our lawyers specialised in immigration law, because your visa may have been refused simply because the application was not submitted correctly.
If, on the other hand, you submitted your application correctly and your entry visa was unfairly refused, contact us to prepare your appeal to the TAR and pursue your visa as quickly as possible.

FAQ - Entry visa application

In some cases, you first need a pre-authorisation (nulla osta) issued by the Prefettura.
What are the requirements for an entry visa?
The requirements depend on the type of visa you are applying for. Contact us to make sure you meet them all.
What documents do I need for an Italian visa?

Visa refused. What should I do?
If you have received a notice of intent to refuse under Article 10-bis, we can still reply and submit observations.
If the refusal is final, however, an appeal must be filed with the TAR.
